fiamma at the Portuguese Barista Championship
The baristast had to present three drinks: One espresso, one milk drink and one signature drink without alcoohol, preserving and sublining the cofffee's special characteristics. The results were scrutinized by two technical judges and four sensorial judges, presided and assisted by two international judges from the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE): Sonja Grant e Luca Ventriglia.
After the first day of competition, six competitors had made it to the final. At the end of the second day, David Coelho, became the Portuguese Barista Champion. Mr. Coelho will represent Portugal at the World Barista Championship in July 2016 that will be held in Dublin, Ireland. Organized by the "Associação Industrial e Comercial do Café" (AICC) and the Portuguese SCAE Chapter, the event counted with fiamma as provider of the official competition machines.
"The Portuguese championship is a fantastic event for coffee lovers to exchange know how and skills", comments Pedro Serra, fiammas CEO. "What really matters here are the specific characteristics of each coffee blend that each barista has to preserve and highlight. The multiboiler system and precise temperature control of the Pacific Multiboiler gives the baristas full control and helps them bring out the aromas and flavours of each coffee".
Besides distinguishing the best Portuguese barista, the championship promotes excellency in coffee and the recognition of the barista profession - causes naturally supported by fiamma, the first Portuguese factory for espresso coffee machines.
